Good morning, I recently upgraded to a Gopro Hero 6 and have taken a few videos at 1080p 120fps. When viewing the videos in QT, FCP or VLC the video lags and is very choppy. I know my mid 2010 macbook pro 2.4GHz dual core with 4mb of ram is the bottleneck and ultimately I'm planning on buying an Imac to support 4k editing in a few months, but in the interim, is there any work around for this? Even to get marginal performance would be fine. I'm going on a ski trip in a few weeks and would like to shoot at the highest frame rate possible to slow the video down later in final cut pro.
Would upgrading to 8mb of ram help at all? Any system settings in the Gopro or computer to dumb it down maybe? Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
Just to add. The video file is actually on my mac when trying to playback. And, Iphone (slo-mo) video shot at 1080p 120fps in .mov format plays back in full speed fine, although I know this is comparing apples to oranges somewhat.
