• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

This is a bit off-topic from your post...but you do realize that:

- buying a Macintosh computer
- learning a new OS,
- and learning a somewhat different video editing program

...you're going to be for quite a learning curve?? What sort of Macintosh and Mac OS experience do you have?

I'm only asking...so that your transition experience is as positive as possible.

You probably want Final Cut Pro. I believe it's $200. It's what the pros use.

You have a number of alternatives available to you as well, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Symphony, and Media Composer among others. Prices vary.

Pinnacle oddly enough makes a version of their software available for the iPad (?!) but not the Mac. I have not tested it, but it would have to be something less than their desktop software I would think.
