• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I'm in a spot of bother, my 500Gb internal iMac HDD is full! Fortunately I have a 250Gb external HD, and I want to relocate my iMovie library to it.
When I import a video off my SD card onto my Mac, can I get it to save the video files to the external HD by default? I just want to relocate all my video to the external HD all on one place.
If this is possible, can someone tell me how?
Many thanks,
James

Don't know if you can do it by default, but you get the option to choose in the dialogue box when you choose Import.

With an external drive attached, it's icon should show in the Project and Event Libraries. Just drag your Projects and Events to the icons.
