I need some pointers about how to import and edit video on my new MacBook Pro.
I work NATO shifts as a DBA and when I'm on nights it can be quiet if there are no changes planned.
I like to use this time to catch up on my TV. I record to Sky+ then copy then off to DVD in batches.
I could just put the DVD in my MacBook and watch but that would be too easy!
What I want to do is import them to the Mac, edit out the adverts and save the resulting file as .avi on to an external USB drive. It will also enable me to join 2 and 3 part programs into a single file.
I can do all of this on my Windows 7 desktop but would rather do it when I'm at work than waste my days off sat in front of the PC.
I'd prefer to use freeware programs to do this if possible but I'm open to other suggestions.
I've done some searching via Google but what mostly turns up is stuff from people trying to rip commercial DVDs to their computer while the editing type questions tend to be camcorder based.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
