Are there any settings so I can change these things back to 10.4 style?

1. Menu Bar - It is hard to read when it is transparent with certain backgrounds
2. Finder Sidebar - I don't want the 'Search For' category, if I go to preferences and turn off all the items under that category it still shows the header. I also want the sidebar to show Music, Movies... like it used to.
3. Folders on the dock - I like the fan effect for my downloads but I want to be able to put the Utilities folder there so I can right click it to bring up a simple list.

Just close the "Search For" section so it's barely noticeable. Or you might try removing everything under the "Search For" section and see if it disappears.

Also, just drag your Movies, Pictures, etc folders onto the sidebar if you want them there.

so simple, thank you sir

I was a little annoyed that they weren't there also, but a quick few seconds of dragging got me back to what I wanted it to be :)

And just drag the Utilities folder to the dock - won't get a menu, but will get 2 click access to all the apps there.

Thats what I am doing, I just have trouble finding stuff on that huge grid view.

So far my only fix for the menu bar is to put a nice white bar at the top of my background image, it works, but there has to be a better way.

I'd say give it a little time...someone is bound to come out with a hack for it.
