Hi, my mac mouse was being very slow and erratic and so I started using an old mac mouse from my colleague. I re-started my computer today and my computer hasn't been able to connect to the mouse. I can't do anything now. What should I do?

When you say "Mac mouse", you mean Magic Mouse? If so, go to Bluetooth settings and remove the connected/paired devices and re-pair and see if that works.

Yes the magic mouse. The thing is I can't even move my mouse. How do I go to Bluetooth settings?

You will need to find a traditional wired mouse to all this work. With the wireless keyboard/mouses, you should always keep a wired version of both handy to deal with these situations. There's no other way around this.

Hello - this is obvious, but make sure the small slider on the bottom is ON (shows green) and depending on the model (pic below), are the batteries fresh (left) or is the device charged (right) - took my wife on her iMac multiple times to learn to either replace the batteries on our older mouse or charge the unit w/ the lightning cable.

Also, second Ashwin's suggestion, i.e. have a cable mouse/keyboard as a backup - mine were cheap from Amazon. Dave :)

How do I go to Bluetooth settings?

With a Wired Mouse, as suggested, whilst holding down the Option key on your keyboard, click on the Bluetooth icon in the very top menu bar - looks like this: Screenshot 2020-02-03 at 5.19.19 pm?.png

From the drop down menu, click on the Magic Mouse. One of the options is "Remove". Click on this.

Now switch on the Magic Mouse and assuming it's recent, reconnect it via USB to the Mac. Then pull out the connection from the Mouse end. This should solve the problem, hopefully.
