can you change color of window or its titlebar to make apps easier to tell apart in mission control

Hello all

I find mission control very helpful but would find it more helpful still if I could more quickly see which window was which on a small screen.

I have to look closely and think for a moment to tell the difference between a Mail window and a Finder window, when using Mission Control, since the windows are small and the color schemes so similar: white background, grey titlebar. By contrast, I can immediately recognise my Pathfinder window, since I've made the background to each Pathfinder window yellow; so too I can immediately recognise my gmail, since the background of my gmail account is blue.

Hence question: is there any way with Finder and Mail and perhaps other mac apps to change the color of either the titlebar or the window itself or both? I know that you can change the background of Finder for icon view, which would be perfect except that I usually have Finder open in column rather than icon view.

Any help very welcome.

Thanks

David

How are you accessing Mission Control? Dock icon or keyboard shortcuts? You can use command+tab, to cycle through all open apps?

Good point, and thanks for reply. But what I like about Mission Control is that it makes finding a window like looking at a bunch of papers spread out on your desk in front of you. This is intuitive and quick. But quick only if you can immediately recognise which paper is which. And that's where colours would help.

It's true that if I thought when moving from one thing to another, e.g. checking an email for something bearing on a document am writing, "At this point I need to consult an email, so I should press command+tab and scroll through to Mail", that would work. But it would be much less natural, to me, and much less quick.

So colours really would help -- and not just me, I suspect.

Some apps (e.g. Pathfinder, which used to use) are beautfiully customisable in this and other respects; OSX apps less so, unfortunately.

Thanks again

As far as we are aware, there is no way to do what you want with Mission Control. Apps such as Pathfinder (which I also use) are specialized and easily customized. However, I agree with you that different colors for the various title bars of MC would be helpful. Perhaps you can send in that suggestion to Apple? Who knows, they may respond positively?
