My email had been screwed up; I could receive emails but could not reply to any or send new ones. Then I downloaded and installed the 10.15.2 update and miraculously, my email was back to normal!! Until... I shut down the laptop. On re-starting, I was right back to the original problem.

Any idea WHAT happened and how I can fix it? I'm at a loss. I'm a disabled Vet living on Social Security; I can't afford an expensive tech or even the gas to drive to my nearest Apple Genius Bar which is 50 miles away. I will appreciate any assistance offered. Thank you for reading this.

What have you tried already, so that we don't suggest stuff you have already tried? Checked email account settings? Called the email provider to see if there is an issue on their end? Rebooted? Deleted/recreated the account? Tested with another machine to send a mail to yourself?

And provide some details, please. What email provider are you using? Do you get any messages when the email fails? Does your provider have a webmail service? Does that work, if they do have one?
