Would be tough to have a discussion of breeding canines on this site with that restriction, Patrick. Good thing that doesn't come up that often!

Conversely, I guess it could be a heads up some developers as to the name they give to one of their software applications. It could put the brakes on as to spreading the word or advertising.

It is a big download. About 8GB. If you are in the install, that will get adjusted downward as the installation proceeds. I seem to recall it taking just under a hour on my MBP in my profile.

Seems awfully slow considering my bandwidth:

I'm sure Apple has local servers….

Could be their end. Hard to say. As I said, it's a big file to download. Let it run, go get a coffee at that coffee shop and relax!

I'll probably install Catalina on my main machine this weekend. I finally received word from the developer of my 32 bit app that the 64 bit version is ready and can be downloaded. I'll test it first on my bootable T5 which currently has Catalina 10.15.2 on it.

So, installing Catalina seems to have bricked my iMac. When I got home, it was off. I started it up, but got the "Your Mac restarted because of a problem...." screen which switched to the Apple-with-a-progress-bar screen and then back to the "Your Mac restarted...." screen in an endless loop.

Trying Safe mode now, but the progress bar progress is insanely slow.

Big mistake....

It wouldn’t start up in Safe Mode, so I started in Recovery Mode and selected a CCC clone as startup disk. It appears that the Catalina installer failed very soon as the internal drive on my iMac (Amonia) still shows Mojave. The installer did just enough damage to prevent it from actually starting up. I’m going to wipe the internal drive and restore from the CCC clone.

Here are the last few lines of the system log when the machine shut down and then the first line when I managed to boot it up with the internal drive. Anyone see anything interesting?

In spite of my earlier statement, I went ahead and tried one more time. This time I created a bootable install disk on a USB SSD.

Installing from that was very fast. A little more than an hour.

I did lose my UPS software, but I knew that was going to happen. Maybe they'll have a Catalina update "real soon now".
