BIG, BIG mistake I made upgrading to MAC OS Catalina on my MacBook Pro. Have had many problems resulting from the upgrade. (Or was it a downgrade?)

My newest problem is with the new MUSIC app that replaced iTunes. HATE THE MUSIC app!!!

The MUSIC app, after upgrading? (backwards) to Catalina knocked all of my music and playlists off the computer. WAY TO GO APPLE!! !not!

So I've spent the last few days rebuilding the playlists, then reloaded into my iPhone.

Oh yea, I forgot to mention that I did the latest iPhone6 upgrade and the upgrade CRASHED!! Had to reload the operating system which took quite a while. Of course ALL of the music on the phone was missing and the restore backup only loaded some of the music back.

So here's my problem. I reloaded the music back on the iPhone. Rebuilt the playlists, restored the music and also the music albums.

Go I to the iPhone and the playlists with the music are there in the MUSIC program, but I have no selection available for selecting ANY album which was loaded onto the phone.

Are the ALBUMS hidden somewhere else?

What's going on?

The simplest solution would be to have just gone back to your previous mac0S Version using your backup would it not???

And I would think that option is still open to you if you decided to change your mind rather than rebuilding everything.

Sorry I have no idea where things are in Catalina as I can't even run it, and I'm sorry you had so much trouble.

@fireman0174:

Read thru this article from PC Mag. Gives a good description and instructions on how to use the new Music app in Catalina which has replaced iTunes. As far as I can tell, you still should be able to have all your albums and playlists the same as before. I have no idea what happened with your iPhone 6 and the latest version of iOS, but that should not have anything to do with the way the new Music app operates.

I'm still trying to figure out what happened with the Music app. I've been using the app since the first Public betas and haven't experienced anything like that.

I'm not sure what the problem is. The one question asked was
Are the ALBUMS hidden somewhere else?
In my iPhone, when I open Music, tap on the Library tab at the bottom of the screen the Library page opens with Playlists, Artists, Albums, Songs and Downloaded music as options. Each has a ">" to the right of them. I tap on that ">" beside Albums and I see all of my albums, in alphabetical order, with covers. I have mine sorted by Title, but the option is there to sort by Artist and Recently Added.

For fireman0174, are you not seeing that in Library?

I only see the PLAYLISTS selection (link). ALBUMS link is not visible.

fireman0174, try this: Open Music on the Mac. In the sidebar look for the "Library" header and click on the "Edit" to the right. That opens to a menu where you can select what you want to see in the Library. Make sure what you want is checked, including "Albums." Then click on Done. Now sync to the iPhone and once that is done, see if Albums shows up on the iPhone as well.

Glad that worked. Don't know why Apple didn't put something on the iPhone version to do that, but with the tight integration with the Mac version, I guess somebody decided to do it that way.
