Where has AirDrop gone

Although it should appear on the Sidebar in Finder it is missing. How can I restore it?

Open Finder preference with (CMD+,) and click on the Sidebar tab. Now ensure that Airdrop is checked, if not, check it and it will reappear in the sidebar.
