Syncing Mail Folders on 2 Macs running Mojave

I have an iMac and a MBP both running Mojave. The MBP is used for traveling and as such I've attempted to mirror it to my iMac. The only thing I wasn't able to do was to sync the mail folders "I've created" on my iMac to my MBP. The email address on both Macs is the same. Is there a way to accomplish this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Instead of creating folders, "On the Mac", create the folders, on the email server instead.

I would think that if both are synced through iCloud that the folders would sync as well. Does that not happen? I know it doesn't work to iPad and iPhone that way, but they are different operating systems and different Mail systems.

if they won't, you might look at Chronosync from The Best Mac Backup and Sync Software - ChronoSync | Econ Technologies as a potential solution. You can schedule Chronosync to keep the two mailboxes in sync.

Right, but if you move the folder from the "On my Mac" section, to the "email account" section, then they will sync.

The "email account" section? Is that where my Inbox, Sent etc is located? I tried to drag and drop but it didn't work ... or should I say I did it incorrectly. How would I achieve that?

It’s been so long since I’ve used email folders on my mac, you may need to create the folder on the server then move the emails to the new folder?

When you create a folder on a Mac, it offers two options - on my Mac or on iCloud.

If you choose the former, the folder or folders are retained on the Mac and are not synced. Each Mac has its own folder structure.

But if you create all your folders on iCloud, they are stored there and are synced to all other Macs with the same Apple ID.

Delete or move an email on one is matched by a similar action on the other Mac.
