Where to find Sierra or High Sierra installer dmg files?

I'm trying to find the installer dmg files for Sierra or High Sierra. I've checked my purchases in the App Store and the latest dmg there is El Cap. I'm wanting to install High Sierra in a Virtual Box VM and the proceedure I have starts from the dmg. I have both on bootable USB Sticks, but I'm not aware of a way to make them into a dmg. Ideas?

Why not just use whichever one you want as the installer??? Just skip any .dmg sequence or find another procedure.

Do you have the installer files on your Mac? With either installer disk inserted in the Mac, this tutorial should help, How to create a "DMG Installer" for Mac OS X * GitHub. If not, do a web search for create macOS dmg installer.

The issue with just using the iUSB nstaller is that Virtual Box won't allow the install in a VM to be booted from USB. Just now looking at the USB stick contents it appears that the Install???.app on the USB stick is the same as is downloaded initially so that may work after all. For some reason I was thinking it was different. Thanks for jogging me into looking at the contents of the stick.

Ferrar - that link for building a DMG is great. It could also be used to preserve the older MacOS install apps as a file that can be easily saved somewhere and mounted whenever it was needed. Thanks.
