The next version of the Mac OS will be out in a few months, and it will be called "Catalina."

The big news is that it won't run 32-bit apps, only 64-bit apps.

So, lots of folks are going to be asking if "this app" or "that app" is 64-bit in the next few months, or "which apps do I have installed that won't run under Catalina."

Fortunately someone has created free software to make finding out if software is 64-bit dead easy (even easier than using Apple's System Profiler):

32-bit check (free)
Check any, or all, folders of your choosing, and you can check just your apps. Generates text reports if you like.

Archichect (free)
Drag and drop utility that instantly tells you if one particular app is 32- or 64-bit

Thanks for that Randy. I've used Apple System Profiler a few times to find this out but it's not as convenient as it used to be. It seems like sometime recently we lost the ability to print a text-based report. I think this worked as recently as in High Sierra but don't quote me on this.

Thanks for that Randy. Surprisingly a lot of mine are Apple apps plus a sprinkling of Adobe ones as well (not so surprisingly!).

Nothing I have got displayed as 32bit would cause me to lose sleep if it didn't work with the advent of Catalina.
