Sound output - Select device

I have two auxiliary sound devices connected to my Mac; one via the headset output and another via bluetooth. Both work well. I would like to play both of these two devices at the same time. The Sound menu in the System preferences menu, however, allows me to select only one of these outputs at a time. It just toggles between them. I wish to connect to both. Can you tell me how to enable this??

Thanks, Eric [macOS Sierra Version 10.12.6, iMac 215 inch)

I don't have time to test this at the moment but macOS has the ability to create aggregate sound devices might get the job done. You might also want to check out some of the audio apps from Roque Amoeba. I think their Audio Hijack Pro can do this IIRC. It's not a free program but there is a demo version so you could try it before purchasing the program.

Skydude:

Thank you very much for your help. I had no idea of the aggregate function. I have tried all combinations of the bluetooth plus headset output and bluetooth plus USB output but just can't get it to work. I will try Roque Amoeba next.

Thanks again, Eric

Without going through the process, once you've created the aggregate device, did you select that as the output device in the Sound settings in Sys Prefs or by clicking on the Speaker icon on the menu bar? With the aggregate device created, were you still getting music only playing out of one of the two connected devices?

Razor, Sky Dude.

By gosh, I got it!! Works as desired. Having made about 20 attempts to configure, I am not sure what ultimately worked but I am not touching anything.

Thanks guys.

"Sky Dude" is SOO Much better than "Slydude". :)

But if you don't figure out how you got it to work, you can't help the next guy who wants to do this thing. :)

Great. Hope it does what you want. Think I tried it with a previous OS version and it was a little buggy. Time to try it again.

I agree. Wish I'd thought of that years ago when I started being more actve on various forums.
