Is there a version of Internet Explorer that will run on Mojave? IE is the only browser that my company's system will allow in to check my work schedule.

I thought Microsoft stopped offering a Mac version of Internet Explorer back in 2005 or thereabouts.
Did IE for Mac get resurrected?

To access a site that absolutely requires IE, I can think of two options:

1. Use Safari and set the User Agent to Internet Explorer, or
2. Use Boot Camp or one of the other methods to run Windows on the Mac and use IE that way.

Not under Mojave. There hasn't been a version of Internet Explorer for the Mac in probably more than a decade. I would check with them to see if there is an alternative. If they won't budge on that then the only option I can see is to run IE in a virtual machine.

BTW do they realize that even Microsoft iss moving away from IE?

That really makes one wonder about the OP's work techs capabilities, doesn't it???

That's what I was thinking Patrick. I know Windows 7 shipped with a version og IE but I don't remember if 8 did.

Edit: At about the time that Microsoft was in the process of dropping support for IE on the Mac I went to a commercial site that did not support Safari but still suggested using Netscape or IE for the Mac.

What krs suggested about User Agent should work.

He doesn't need to use a virtual machine to run IE. He can run IE using WINE or CrossOver. CrossOver will even download and install IE for him, however, CrossOver is not free. WINE will run IE but it's more difficult to setup. IE is free so no problem there.

You don't need WINE, or Windows, or Cross Over. Just Safari.

Launch Safari, click on the Safari name on the top bar, then Preferences. On the Advanced tab there is an option for "Show Develop menu in menu bar." Check it.

Now, on the top bar of the screen when Safari is running is an option for "Develop" and under that is an action item "User Agent." Pick that and select whichever browser you want. There are options for IE 7,8,9,10 and 11.

Safari will now report that it is whatever version of IE you selected and the other end should be happy.

Thanks for that reminder Jake.

I had trouble finding the develop option earlier so I didn't suggest it.

@Barrygou To enable the Develop menu you need to go to Safari's Preferences and click the Advanced tab. At the bottom of that pane is a check box to enable the Develop menu.

Edit: Corrected error.

Sly, not the "General" tab, but the "Advanced" tab.

** right you are Jake. I'm correcting the error in my post so it doesn't cause more confusion.

That would seem to be a pretty good solution for the OP and I almost forgot it existed. But I'm also a bit surprised to learn that the option is still available with the latest macOS and Safari versions.

I've run acrooss a few sites that this method doesn't work wel with in one way or another. Most of the time I can solve that by having it emulate a different browser. If that happens, one of the other options mentioned would be my next choice.

I would have mentioned the same thing as Jake posted but I have found (like Slydude) that there are sites which want the genuine IE not a pseudo version of Safari pretending to be IE. Member "Barrygou" is dealing with his company so he will need to experiment.

When certain websites/companies say they need IE, the user agent switch isn't sufficient since they actually use things available only in IE like ActiveX to make the website work. The user agent switch will get you past any initial checks they might have, but the website might still not function. A lot of these time keeping websites (Kronos, Oracle, etc) have been really slow in updating to the latest technologies and more importantly being browser agnostic.

All true, but why make things complicated?
Changing the User Agent to IE is by far the fastest and simplest option to try first.
I found it worked for me in most cases where IE was required, but not all.
If it works, great, if it doesn't then there are other options.

I think it's now time to hear back from the OP.

krs, that was my thinking. No need to do the BootCamp, Parallels, VirtualBox, WINE approach right out of the chute. Try the easiest, if it works, the other options are still there. KISS principle.

No, but Microsoft has provided "Edge" as their next browser to replace IE. You can download a copy of Edge from here. Note: This is a preview but it is sponsored in the Apple App Store.

Also... with Safari, if you implement the "Develop" menu, you can set up Safari to mimic IE. However, this does not always work as there are IE only sites that will reject it anyway.
