I recently just tried to download the Mojave OS on my iMac. It tells me "This version of macOS 10.14.2 cannot be installed on this computer". My iMac is a 21.5-inch, Late 2009, 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB Memory. Since my computer is a little older I am not able to download another new Operating System? Is this correct Apple won't let me put Mojave on my system? Just trying to get some feedback on this. Appreciate it guys!

Yeah, 2012 models and older do not support Mojave. Similar to how Apple ceases support for iOS updates for old iPhone models, they do the same for old Mac models. This is a strategy to get consumers to buy the latest model.

@TopherDel Member Rocky97 is correct Mojave doesn't normally install on machines of that vintage. I feel your pain. It won't install on my 2008 MacBook Pro either.

Did you install Mojave using one of the patches available to allow running it on older machines. If so, repeating that process might get the update installed properly. Perform a full backup fitst. I haven't had much luck getting it installed at all on my MacBook Pro.

It is not that Apple won't let you. It is simply the hardware cannot run Mojave. Mainly to do with the graphics.

Correct, Jonathan; but the OP's iMac is from 2009. No chance of macOS Mojave.

I cannot comment on alternatives outwith the Apple system.

I understand. I wasn't replying to the OP, but quoting and clarifying Rocky's comment so other people who may read it weren't misled by the incorrect info.

The late 2012 iMac will also run Mojave. Nothing before that though. I have a nice 2010 Quad Core i7 27" and no Mojave on it! Oh well! :D
