Well Chas, it looks as if we have gone about as far as we can go with the OS. Our iMac is late 2009 and the MBP 13 is mid 2010. No way will we be able to update for a good while yet, but quite happy with High Sierra at the moment.

It was quite different when the iMac was on El Cap and the MBP on High S. When I wanted to look at files on the other machine I had to sign in to it. It wouldn't automatically bring up the files. Now they are both on High S it shows the files on the other machine as soon as I select it in Finder. Makes it very easy.

Remember, if you have Mojave, the software update is available through System Preferences>Software Update and not the App Store.

As Jake has pointed out, the Mojave update is only available from System Preferences -> Software update. Also.... even if the dialog returns "Your software is up to date", hang on for a few more moments and the 10.14.2 update will appear warning you that you will have to restart your machine during the update process.

Yes, it appeared after a while. Strange why I didn't get a notification that it was available like I do for all my app updates...always have before (and yes, it's set to check under the Software Update Advanced Settings).

I too did not get a notification that an update was available even though I have that selected in Advanced Settings. Nor did I get a notification for the last update to Mojave (10.14.1). It appears that this is an Apple glitch that needs to be resolved.

You have to have patience Lisa. Just let the dialog remain open for awhile; maybe as long as three or four minutes. It will eventually telll you that an update is available.

I gave up on downloading mine for right now. Even though I'm on a 45-50 Mbps connection right now, the download was going at dial-up speed. Maybe it's an issue with Apple's server that it's connected with. I'll try again tomorrow. Not waiting 7+ hours for a download, lol!

It finally showed up. But, WOW it is a BIG download 2.5GB? So I will wait until I am at work to update. At my house it would take at least over night.

Just jumped in from High Sierra. Left it alone after getting the installation to start, went to bed. (Although it promised to only take 10 minutes.) The download took roughly 60-90 minutes, going by the estimate. I didn't sit and watch it!

I feel your pain Lisa. I'm in the mountains of western North Carolina. Beautiful country, but I barely have enough data throughput to stream Netflix. It took me 11 hours to update to Mojave and I get sticker shock every time I see my internet bill.

Patrick - I live beyond the boonies! I live in God's country! I have ADSL with 1.7Mbps speeds. It told me it would take 3 hours (or more) to download. I brought my laptop to work and it took 4 minutes to download the update.

I am waiting with my Mac Pro. I am not sure if I want an update. Every time I do bad things happen. Mojave has given me more headaches on my Mac Pro than any version of OS X ever - total - all together!

The problems that Mojave has caused are nothing compared to what the next version of macOS is going to cause. Just imagine all the Mac users who have 32 bit apps and apps that are not sanctioned by Apple. They upgrade with no backup, and then learn their favorite apps are dead in the water. I can hardly wait to read the complaining threads.... :\

Yes, my only 32 bit app that I'm getting sweaty palms about is QuickTime 7 Pro. I use it all...the...time for splicing video, replacing audio, etc. and I just don't see anything else like it out there for simple edits like that. It's a crime that the current version of QuickTime can't do these basic things (only trimming...which isn't any good if you need to cut something out in the middle).

I'm curious about your "apps that are not sanctioned by Apple" comment though. Are they seriously going to block apps from "unidentified developers" with no override option or something like that?
