I don't understand why the previous thread is closed, and why the "troll" comment at the end of the thread? I am trying to do as I explained in the thread and asking for real advice. Was any of it derogatory to prompt a closing of that thread?

I was not able to re-download a previously-purchased copy of Mountain Lion from the Apple Store and Apple refused to give me a store credit to re-download it. So I'm at a stalemate until I try to download 10.8 onto the MBA which I'm going to try with Yosemite instead. I have been working on it for a week or so. I wasn't aware that threads had response time limits.

I don't know what thread you''re referring to, but maybe you could explain what you're attempting to do?

Did you purchase Mountain Lion, previously? Do you have an old enough Mac, that will run Mountain Lion? If so, you would need to be booted into El Capitan or earlier, in order to use the old OS X App Store to re-download an earlier version of Mac OS X/OS X. Did you get Yosemite installed?

Bob, it was this thread: https://www.mac-forums.com/macos-operating-system/348301-sierra-junk-3.html

It got closed. BondAMR had been told how to install OSX/macOS on his Mac several times, kept ignoring the directions, which made somebody think he was trolling. Now he has a new problem in trying to download the installer for ML, which he said in the other thread he already had. I'm still confused on what BondAMR is trying to do and have no idea why he won't just do what is required to get a working OS on his Mac.

I'm not ignoring the advice, I'm just running into roadblocks in trying to finalize it. I did buy the ML 4 years ago and used it but now a re-download is saying it is unverifiable or corrupt so I need a new one. I'm still working on the problem and taking all the advice into account.

ferrarr ...I'm going to try Yosemite on another partition and have 2 partitions when I get the ML again on the 2011 MBA.

Did you make a bootable USB installer with an 8GB or 16GB thumb/flash drive?

Thanks Jake.

I haven't been able to yet as I wanted to do that with ML since the SL was of no use yet I was able to load SL onto another external drive.
