-macbok pro late 2011
-installed high sierra because on some sites the video wouldn’t play
-didn’t work so I tried downloading the lastest safari
-im assuming if the app store doesnt tell you to update it then you can’t, so I learned the hard way (i just googled the download not from the app store)
-now safari won’t open in my laptop. Im typing this from my phone. I keep getting an error message safaribooksmarcsyncagent quit unexpectedly. I have no clue what to do, i dont even know how to uninstall and reinstall the old version.
Please help, thanks a lot

Do you have another browser, like Google Chrome, or Firefox? Do you have another computer you can use to download another browser? Have you restarted your MBP?

Rebooting initializes all the components of the operating system. That would include the bits and pieces that Safari uses and depends upon to operate. It may or may not fix the issue, but it's a good first step.

Safari is tightly tied to the operating system and should not be updated outside that. Where did you get the update you applied? It should ONLY come from Apple, no where else. If you have upgraded beyond your version of the OS, that could be why it doesn't work properly.

So, I don't have solutions if there is an OS/Safari mis-match other than to reinstall the OS and get back into sync.
