Why can't I download Mojave OS

I have been trying to download the new Mojave OS. I have a 2015 imac, and am currently running High Sierra (which I keep updated). I have tried in the Safe Mode and that doesn't work either. What am I doing wrong?

You are going to the App Store and clicking on the Mojave banner and clicking download? You don't need to be in safe mode for this to work. What specific errors/issues are you seeing?

I am sorry I should have included that.....Here is the error I receive: "an error occurred validating the installer data. The download is either damaged or incomplete." I am trying to download from the App Store by clicking on the Mojave banner. But it doesn't say download....

Ahh, so you are indeed downloading it and running the installer is failing. The Mojave installer is downloaded to your /Applications folder. Can you go that folder in Finder and check on the size of the installer? It should be around 5.7 GB.

Once you've confirmed the size, this issue has been reported by others and there are a couple of suggestions to try. One is to boot into Safe mode and do the installation that way. It sounds like you've tried that and it hasn't worked. The second thing to try is to reset the SMC and then try the installation. Please try that and report back on your success/failure.

Here is what I did.... I went ahead a deleted the installer app from my computer. Emptied the trash, and then shut off my firewall. I then went to the App store and tried again. Everything worked this time. Thank you so much for your help!
