So I’ve been trying to get windows 10 installed on my Mac OS X high Sierra (128gb) for ages and it’s just not worked at all. I need it to get CAD programmes installed for university.

I was planning on using an SD card to run Mac OS and then dedicating the entire internal disk for windows (my SD card is the sandisk unltra micro sdxc 128gb, is this even a bootable SD card??). I’ve backed up my Mac with a 500gb external hard drive and then restored it onto my SD card but I’ve no idea where to go from there.

I still have to partition the intneral disk for boot camp but my memory is still full??

I know very little about computers so a step by step guide explaining everything would be invaluable. Thank you in advance.

A 128GB SSD is simply too asmall for Mac OS X and BootCamp for Windows 10.

Not an expert on SD cards, however Microsoft will not allow an install on an external drive without a work round, and that is how the SD may be looked at. An anti-piracy measure in MS eyes.

Why don’t you install mcOS back on the internal, and make the Boot Camp partition 400gb and the macOS can have 100gb?

So I’ve downloaded windows onto my hard drive via VirtualBox and completed the installation etc.
When I restart my Mac I cannot boot into my external hard drive.

Any advice?

Boot Camp and VirtualBox are two different things.

Do you have a Windows install disk?
How big is the drive in your Mac?
Do you have an 8GB/16GB flash/thumb/USB/SD drive?

In order to boot from your external hard drive, you need to have macOS installed onto it.
