Where is my Right Click Menu?

I usually have this options menu during right click on weblinks the gives me the options of;

Open Link in New Tab…
Open Link in New Window…
etc.
etc.
etc.

But sometimes this switches on its own to a different submenu of options listed below;

Save Page As…
View Background Image…
Select All…
etc.
etc.
etc.

I have 4 questions;

1) how do I change this back to the first original submenu options?
2) how can I prevent this from changing on its own again?
3) is this a change in OSX System Preferences or is it a browser setting?
4) Is this submenu easily customizable? Or do I need a special toolbox program?

The Right click cursor menu changes according to the window or element of a window it is on at the time (as it is supposed to do). If I right click on this page I get a menu for the page; Save Page As, Send Page To Device etc. If I right clicjk in this text box I get a menu for a text box; Undo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Select All, ect. Right click on the desktop gives me New Folder, Get Info and so on. This is the way it is designed to function and cannot be changed.
If the right click menu does not offer the options you would normally expect on a weblink it can only be because the link is not active or valid. In other words the cursor is not registering it as a link and defaults to the web page options.
This maybe because the browser has not loaded the page properly, the page is old or faulty and or the link has expired. To test that you can copy the link, paste it into your browser search window and try to open t that way.

yeah it doesn't work anymore when I'm just using it to open Google weblinks from their search page. it always used to before until today it seems. I can only think the Firefox browser isn't loading the page up correctly. And I can't copy the link to paste it into my search window as you suggested because the pop up submenu won't give me that option :/

What about holding the left click button and dragging through the link address like copying text in a document? Then copy and paste into the address bar. Anyway this is just a stop gap method. Have you tried a different browser?

Give the same site a try with Safari. If that works check your version of Firefox is current.

Can you update Firefox, you do it from the About Firefox menu Top of the list in the Firefox pull down menu usually?
If it says you are "Up to date" it may be related to which macOSX you are running. Have a look In the Apple menu "About this Mac" to see what macOS you are running.
If you are running a fairly current macOSX then you may need to consider trashing the app and downloading a fresh version. This has fixed issues with Firefox for me in the past. If you are not already I would suggest you register with Mozilla. That way when you download the fresh version and login it will automatically load your preferences, bookmarks and extensions.

Mozilla has released a new version of Firefox which is a 64 bit app called Quantum but it may not be suitable for your operating system dependent again on what you currently have.

quick question... 4) Is this submenu easily customizable? Or do I need a special toolbox program like Tinker Tool which I have used once before but it is kind of confusing?

I'm not sure what you are referring to. I'm just proposing that you uninstall Firefox and reinstall it again. If you would like a step by step description of the process I can provide that. What Operating System are you running on your Mac?

the right click submenu default list of options, is that customizable? can I use a preference setter program to add or subtract or organize the submenu list in the any sequence I may like? I use 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and Firefox 42 is the maximum Firefox number for that.

(I know what you might say to upgrade the Op's and browser but I don't want to do that. I have used all subsequent Op's and run Yosemite on another MBP but Snow Leopard is still the best Op made and prefer to use that on a daily basis. Programs are still made compatible for it, and anything not I can find earlier versions of.)

Well that's a problem. You are not alone with this issue but if the latest version of Firefox does not meet your needs (I'm curently using Firefox Ver. 62.0.3) then another browser that does may be your only option.
