Transferring photos from iTunes to Mobile device - customized order
Try as I might, I can not arrange photos to my discretion when I transfer them to my iPhone or iPad from iTunes on my Mac. I've tried numbering them the way I want them viewed and I've tried to change the capture time in Photoshop... to no avail.

I know it's possible to organize images on your mobile device when they are in a created folder, but it appears it's impossible to customize their arrangement when transferred from a Mac.

Does anyone know if it's possible to do what I'm attempting?

    Robert

    iMac w/ Sierra 10.12.6
    iOS current version
    iTunes 12.8.0.150

Unfortunately, that site does not address the issue of organizing images that are transferred from a Mac via iTunes. If one uses iCould for photos - yes, customized albums are allowed and customization within the album is possible, but it then deletes all synced photos from the Mac.

Mac Photos is an inferior imaging editing program... I prefer to edit and organize photos in Lightroom, export a folder of desired images, then sync them to my phone. However, the phone software sorts them by capture date, not file name. And changing the date in Photoshop does not seem to help, or at least I haven't yet figured out a way to make it work.

OK, I figured out a way to custom-organize photos when transferred from a Mac via iTunes, but it's a bit complicated, and maybe not worth the trouble.

    1. Export the images from Lightroom without Metadata, sorted numerically with the desired order. Even so, the creation date seems to remain, which is the problem 'cause that's how iOS sorts them
    2. Import these new JPG's into Photoshop and then export them as PDF's
    3. Re-import the PDF's into PS then save them as JPG's.
    4. Sync these new JPG's with the phone/ipad via iTunes and they will be in the desired order.

    ...whew!

I can't help but wonder if iMazing.app couldn't do what you want to much easier?

You could check out their article at their page:
    How to...
Transfer photos from your computer to an iPhone or iPad

    https://imazing.com/guides/how-to-tr...uter-to-iphone

    And as an extra bonus as admin Charlie mentioned yesterday, iMazing.app is currently on a super sale;
    https://www.macworld.com/article/331...=mw_daily_html

At that price, I'd recommend purchasing it regardless.
