I would like my Steam library to be available to all users on my Mac. In order to achieve this I'd need my library to be a "shared folder," I went into the info tab of the folder and clicked the tick next to make it a shared folder. But Steam doesn't see it that way. Why am I doing or not doing that's wrong? What can I do?

Can you move the files to the Applications folder, instead of your user Applications folder? Also, there is a "Shared" user folder, which may do what you want. If you look in Macintosh HD > Users, there it is.

You didn't say what Mac OSX Version you are using, and Apple has really locked down the sharing with all their super security stuff and has really restricted the options.

Maybe start here:
https://www.imore.com/mac-help-sharing-files-between-users-same-mac

Or try some other hits from here:
https://www.google.com/search?clien...ely+Shared+across+Users+Mac&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

I believe at some point Apple allowed sharing only from the user's Shared or Public folders, but one should be able to create an alias that's more convenient to access.

But have a look here if this fits close enough:
macOS Sierra: Use File Sharing to share files

*Thinking sideways* How about putting the files to be shared into the shared library, then putting links (aliases) to them in the individual accounts where Steam expects them to be? Seems to me that might trick Steam into "seeing" the files where it expects them for each individual user. And because they are in the shared folder, everyone should be able to open them.

I've put it in the shared folder.

I'm on Sierra.

Thanks. I might try that.

Well I’ve tried the alias method but it just seems to confuse steam and cause it to think that I’m signing in for the first time, and none of the games are accessible.
