Mojave - Light or Dark Appearance

Just installed Mojave and everything is ok apart from a small cosmetic issue.

In High Sierra and previous operating systems you could set the Menu Bar and Dock to be either light or dark and I preferred dark. In Mojave you have the option of Light or Dark Appearance and if it's set to Dark I achieve my aim of a Dark Menu Bar and Dock BUT that also gives me dark tops to browsers and Finder is very Dark indeed. I'm sure I will find further instances of Dark being distasteful and wondered if anyone has found a way to have the Light Appearance with Dark Menu Bar and Dock?

I can empathize with you. I have some software that I use which does not look well with dark mode on. I've written to one developer and asked about it hoping at the same time that they will make adjustments.

I tried dark mode. Lasted about an hour before I went back. Personally, it's a gimmick of little actual benefit. But I guess some folk want it, so...
