I don't get what is wrong with Apple and passwords.

All of a sudden, "system preferences" keeps asking me to put in my password for my facebook account. I put in the correct password and then it tells me that the password is incorrect. I go on to Safari, and log in to my facebook account, using my correct password. It makes no sense to me... Is there something wrong with my Mac.
I tried to log in to the Apple.com and now it won't recognize my Apple ID password. WHAT IS GOING ON?!

I got exactly the same after downloading the latest OS update. Annoying. Got there in the end though didn't have to go right into Facebook. Seems to be working.

I was also asked to enter my Facebook password, I just copied it from Safari > Preferences > Passwords, and painted it in the needed field.

Honestly it is this crazy behavior that will be the downfall of our favorite OS. Sometimes I'm tempted to switch to Linux or BSD because of stuff like this. At least I get more control over my computer. But I really love MacOS and its features. Just don't expect stuff like this from Apple. Microsoft maybe.. not Apple.
Now I have to wait 13 hours till Apple sends me details to change my Apple ID password because I entered the "correct" one too many times.

I'm also being asked to enter my Apple ID and password for many things that I normally do day to day. However, it seems to be only a one time thing. I suspect it may be related to the latest Security Update to High Sierra that Apple recently deployed. Or, maybe not. :)

For me, I find that it happens from time to time. Happened with Sierra and Yosemite too. On Yosemite, I had to because it would not accept my current password, I had to change it so many times, I began to forget what it was that month or that week.

I don't think the password issues are limited to macOSX or the fault of macOSX per se. The recent Face Book fiasco with Cambridge Analytica have prompted additional measures for users to secure or confirm their accounts and a number of third party apps like Instagram are having big issues because of this as well. You cant really complain when they don't then complain when they do. As for Apple ID issues I cant understand that. Across several different devices and many years of upgrades I have never had to change my Apple ID password except when I decided to do so. I can remember some problems some users had back in El Capitan where symbols were used as part of an Apple ID password.

I went on to support.apple.com again to try and change my password since 13 hours passed and I didn't receive any instructions or feedback. It asked me to wait another 24 hours.
I went on a twitter rant directly at Apple to my surprise they responded. However it was with the same details.
Its stuff like this that make me wanna switch to FreeBSD as my primary.

Does anyone here work for Apple?
I'd like them to see this...

Apparently I'm not allowed to complain about software issues anymore...

The issue is plain and simple. All of a sudden I would get a notification that I need to re-login in to one of my internet accounts; Mail, Facebook, etc.
I put in the password and I get an error stating that it is not the correct password. I know it is the correct password because I start up Safari and log in to the account using the same password.
It is frustrating because then you go through a whole mess of either using another device or computer to change the password. Then completely remove the account from all my devices and add it again as a new account. Then everything is fine, until it sends the notification again after a couple of months.
This is even more frustrating and confusing because now you are forced to change passwords out of the blue and try to remember dozens of password combinations to different accounts.

Today it even told me that my current Apple ID password was wrong when I tried to post something on the community site. Had to change it on my iPhone just to get in there to complain.

Please Apple, we don't need much of new features of continuity, etc.. Just get your act together and fix the "Internet Accounts" section of your MacOS and iOS.

I don't think anyone here works for Apple. If they do we wouldn't necessarilly know that. My understanding is that Apple emplyees are pretty tight lipped about that if/when posting on other fo9rums.

Did you try just calling support? I find the telephone support folks to be very friendly and knowledgeable.

No one here works for Apple nor are we affiliated in any way with Apple except that we are users just like you. As for Apple's overwatch of their forums, nothing new there. They have never allowed criticism of their policies or their forums by the participants.
