Just last night, every site I've tried to visit on my iMac , I get the "can't find server" message.
I get Yahoo! home page, and can get the sites I click on from there, and email, but that's about it. The yahoo links look a bit different (missing things) and won't play video, so it's def not all right. I am typing this on my phone because my iMac can't get on the forum website.
This is miserable bc I hate using my phone for stuff like this. I need s large screen and a mouse!
I looked up some stuff on my phone and told me to empty my caches (did) and put in new DNS numbers (did) but no help.
Why can I get yahoo stuff and nothing else? What is happening?
I'm running macOS 10.13.1 High Sierra.
Please help. I have a lot of work I need to do!

Hi lucore

In addition the the very good advice from Nick - especially the Link he provided:

1. You might consider updating your version of High Sierra to the latest - which I think is 10.13.3 - as this includes a Safari update.

2. Quit out of Safari completely i.e. Quit not just close. Now whilst holding down the Shift Key, Click on Safari to open it. This often sorts out problems of your sort.

Please post back.

Thanks to Nick and to IWT (again!).
But . . .
After I posted, my wife started having problems on her iPad and then my phone started with the same issues. So though I was able to use the phone to initially post my thread, I was not able to access internet sites soon after, which led me to believe it was a provider issue.
I reset my modem/router and now all is good (still don't know why I could get some sites and not others. I was on Yahoo before I had the problems, so maybe I could get their stories and my email because it was already open.)

Anyway, all seems to be working now, though I am still a bit confused. But I live most of my life that way anyway.

Thanks again for the help and advice.

Hi Peter

So glad you got it sorted. Most of us live in varying states of confusion, so welcome to the club.
