Export Apple Mail Mailbox

i have no idea, how and why has this occurred? My export option isn't working on the Mail Application. Own a MAC book pro with high sierra.
i don't receive a finder window to point where I want to export the mailbox to. I am not able to properly export the mailbox. any help please??

I don't have High Sierra, but my reading from numerous Google searches suggests that the method has not changed since Sierra and the method you describe should work (https://support.apple.com/kb/PH22318?locale=en_US).

The first thing I would do is reboot the Mac. Maybe you've done this already? It's always the first step to take in most instances.

I'm assuming that in Mail, clicking on Mailbox does include "Export Mailbox"in its drop down menu? It's just that when you choose it, it does not permit navigation to a destination of your choice? Is that correct?
