Today, I was updating my wife's iDevices on her iMac (Sierra 10.12.6) and needed to do some macOS updates - so, expected no problem but one now appears in both the updated section and also in the ones needing updating (see pic below w/ blue outlines - same update and Apple KB article) - now, this has happen to me in the past and usually a reboot clears the issue - did several reboots and cannot rid myself from the App Store badge showing an update - is there another option to get rid of this number (drives my wife nuts!) - have not checked my logs on that computer, if of any help? Did the same update on my MBPro w/o a problem - thanks for any suggestions. Dave :)

I can't check because all Sierra updates have been removed (including Sierra itself) from my update history. I can't remember if that particular Security Update was reissued but it would not hurt to download it again. Give that a try.

I experienced the same thing this morning with the High Sierra update to 10.13.1. I installed it twice and now it hasn't come back.

Thanks Charlie & Bob for your responses - I've repeated updates before w/ success, just irritating that even after several reboots, the OS does not seem to recognize the install, i.e. if the same - agree may be a different iteration? Will wait a few days and if nothing changes then I'll update yet again. Dave :)

Just a follow-up post to close out this thread - as suggested, I did a re-install and all went well - the number badge has disappeared on the App Store icon - thanks again for the comments. Dave :)
