MBP 13' 2015- sound is going bad

My MBP is having wierd sound issues. It will start crackling, and then get to the point where sound is completely garbled. This problem comes in and out, and happens with both the computer speakers and headphones. Any ideas? Sound is periodically returning to normal but only lasts for a minute or so, and is getting worse.

Welcome to the forum.

When this problem started, what had you done just before? Typically issues are associated with some change that has been made. Does a reboot fix the problem? Do you have any third party sound applications installed? Is it all sound or just music or narration? Is it iTunes or some other player? Is it Safari, too?

We need a bit more information to be able to help.

A few other things to try, NVRAM & SMC resets, and Safe mode boot, to see if these help with your sound issues?

Thank you! The problem went away (for now?) after a couple of resets, but I'll be back if it starts having problems again. Thank you!
