Ae you guys aware of any key loggers that can be set up on the guest account, not the admin account?
I just need to get the login password for the admin account and that seems like the best way to go about it?

Is there any particular reason that you need to get the admin password from the guest account?

Yes. My son took over the admin account and unfortunately were having some sad problems with him. I have an iMac. I tried to download from guest account but I needed the admin password. Which he will not give me.

You can set up a new password on the User Account. If he won't give you the new password, toss him off when he is using the 'puter, whatever it is, and change the password and NOT tell him. Sadly tough times call for tough measures.

You could then create a brand new shiny Guest Account with instructions if he locks that account, he is grounded!

Once you change the password back to you again, the next step is to set a firmware password on the computer. That will prevent your son from doing any changes at all.

Hmmm…??? It sounds to me like someone needs to go spend their own money on their own Mac maybe… or did the kid pay for the existing one…???

There is little you can do from the guest account that does not require the admin password. You could boot from another source and erase the HD but that is a bit drastic. Perhaps you need to tackle the root cause of the problem, at least until you can secure the device with a firmware password as suggested by chscag.
You could, assuming you have proof of ownership, threaten to take the device to an Apple service center (after backing up your data with Time Machine of course) and have the device erased. That would leave him with nothing.
