After upgrading to mac OS Sierra there has been some issue with my power button controls. ( press and hold power button to get restart, sleep, shutdown option)

Every time I start my mac it works fine but after some random amount of time (varies from hours to maybe days) it stops working. Like the mac won't go to sleep when i press and hold the button nor does the power menu shows up.

When I wake the mac up from sleep the escape button doesn't work even when on the password screen.

This issue only started after upgrading to Sierra. Once I restart my mac it starts working again and all of it repeats in a cycle.

Pleaseee help... :)

Power Button start only. Restart any key or restart button for a very short period. Shutdown via menu under Apple icon top left corner.

Its a MacBook Pro 13" Late 2013.

@Rod Sprague

The power button shortcut mentioned in the first link work for some time once I start the MacBook but after some time they stop working both on the home screen and the lock screen (password screen). Even the escape button doesn't work on the lock screen

So this is a loss of function so try running First Aid in the Disk Utility and if that doesn't help (after restarting) try the SMC reset and NVRAM as mentioned BUT as always make a backup of the HD before any drastic repair procedures.
