This is an antivirus product.... should you install it on your iMac? In short No. You will find on this forum we do not recommend any antivirus/malware products. The reason is because 99% of the virus/malware in the wild are written for windows. Plus most will slow down your mac.

I will admit to being skeptical myself when I got my first mac coming from a windows world. I tried them all and found that if I got any alerts it was always from an email attachment or an infected website and the malware was always written for windows OS. I finally got rid of all antivirus products and I have had zero problems. I do periodic scans with Malwarebytes for mac as a check up and precaution. If it finds anything it is adware at most.

Safe browsing, avoiding phishing scams and common sense precautions works the best. I also run browser extensions Ghostery and Ublock Origin to keep adware and browser hijacks from happening and they work great for me.

I believe a similar question was asked just a few days ago and the consensus was that it was basically a scam like so many other's being flogged lately.

Should we install it on our iMac ?

Basically and simply — NO!!!

You probably don't need it, nor many other's like it.

I did a bit of checking on Google. Found on BC that they think it is a scam. And that revues by people are also not true. How is this allowed?

How is anything allowed were folks are swindled out of their money or duped by misinformation. Stuff happens...and we need to be as vigilant and knowledgeable as possible so we don't become victims of scams.

ellenmac the 'net is simply full of scams and cons designed to seperate users from their cash. Another prominent one is Mackeeper so keep well clear of that. The only cleaning utility you should consider is Onyx.

I cannot get over what the world has become. I am in my seventies and was brought up to be honest and truthful.

Sorry, I'm of the same generation and was brought up the same way, but things have changed and maybe this will help as a caution, and maybe save and keep stuck on your computer…

We have been deluded. Crime and other lowlife phenomena are not new. They are just better publicized. I commented in another thread that "crime doesn't pay" is mere wishful thinking. The more we allow ourselves to believe that, the better our chances of falling victim to it. Trust nobody (except Benjamin Franklin. I was standing next to him when he made the statement that Patrick quoted. Honest!)

Actually I took a selfie with him in just that same chair with my Samsung cell fliphone but didn't notice you, but the lighting was bad. I think they were trying out some new generation LED lights.

I can't recall if they were using AC or DC current power, or maybe some new lithium type batteries.

Did you notice he also had an older iPad 2 sitting on the side of his desk that was almost out of site? Probably didn't want anyone to notice and divulge where he got all his ideas from.

I would not exactly call this a recent development. The world didn't suddently get dishonest & untruthful overnight.;)

Dishonesty and untruthfulness have been with us ever since the beginning of time...not a new thing.

In more modern times....most folks got thier daily news via newspapers & radio broadcasts. Then television. What may seem different to individuals now is the internet. Good & bad news from all over the world. And the "two-way" nature of the internet (individuals can comminicate with us & we can communicate in return).

Most folks we bump into on a daily basis are probably honest & truthful. It's only when we are bombarded with "bad news" via radio, newspaper, TV, and the internet...that things seem worse.

If we were all still living in a small sleepy town of 500 people...where every one knew everyone else. The ONLY daily news was from the morning/evening newspaper...where we would read about the story of John who caught the big fish...and Mary who won the pie baking contest at the local fair. The world in 2016 would still seem totally honest & truthful.:)

The "Good old Days" in some ways where good for some things. And in other ways...the "Good old Days"...were not so great.;)

I've read that Benjamin Franklin had two sides. The one side that we are more familiar with...and the other side where he was a real party-animal, ladies man, and jokester!;) Of course he could have been a very honest party animal, ladies man, and jokester!;);)

I think Arthur C Clarke summed it up neatly. "Technology indistinguishable from magic" We have at our disposal what would have appeared magical to Ben Franklin. There's a downside too. Not only do we hear about the scammers. We are within their reach.
