I have a spreadsheet (size 2.1 MB) that all of a sudden I cannot save because of a " Out of Memory Error"!

The spreadsheet uses some simple Macros.

There is enough RAM and memory on the Harddisc.

(I remember having worked with sheets ten times this size years ago without any problem...)

First off, let's clarify a few things so we know the parameters involved here. Memory space and hard drive space are not the same thing. The RAM and its contents are not on the hard disk. Anything stored in RAM would be lost when you quit the program or shut down the computer. It might help us to know a couple of things to answer your question.

1. How much memory do you have in the Mac?
2. How much available hard disk space is there?
3. Are there any other programs open while you are trying to work with this spreadsheet?
4. What version of Excel are you using? There is no Excel 2016 for the Mac. There is a 2011 version that is part of Microsoft Office and there is a version of Excel that is part of office 365.

Plenty of "dunce caps" to go around. Moderators and Admins get a special cap that glows in the dark and a very high stool to sit on. :p
