I wanted to create OS X EL Capitan 10.11.4 Bootable USB Pen Drive so that i can Install the latest ver and don't have to update the OSX after installation.

Can some body Guide/Help me to create OS X EL Capitan 10.11.4 Bootable USB Pen Drive.

Thanks in advance. :)

You will need to download the installer again. Then use DiskmakerX to make the bootable drive. Get it here. It will put the installer on the Pen drive for you. Test that it boots ok (It will be very slow). Then backup everything on your HDD and boot from the USB and run the Installer. One caution: When I did that recently, the installer complained that the installer file on the USB drive had been changed in some way and refused to run. I redownloaded it and put it on the drive directly and it worked. So what I would do is download the installer, make a copy somewhere on the HDD, then install DiskmakerX and make the boot drive, but when it was done, copy the OTHER installer to the USB drive instead of the one DiskmakerX put there. That way you don't have to risk having to re-download the installer.

Just so you know. You don't need to do this if you want to do a fresh install of El Capitan. When you reformat the hard drive…the Recovery Partition is not touched. So you just boot into the Recovery Partition…reformat the drive…then do a fresh install of El Capitan.

Even if you (for example) had installed a brand new hard drive (with no Recovery Partition on it)…you could still install the OS via Internet Recovery.

I'm not trying to talk you out of making a bootable USB stick installer of El Captian…since these can come in handy sometimes.:) Just wanted you to know the above info (in case you didn't know) and if you really didn't want to go thru the process of making the bootable USB stick.

I don't have wifi router, i use ethernet cable for internet. So i don't think in Recovery Mode I'll have option to connect to internet that's why I was asking if there's any way i can create usb pen drive of OSX latest ver.

Is there still any way for me to install El Capitan 10.11.4 - Please let me know, Thanks for replying Guys.

I think that there is some big time confusion here.:( The way your computer connects to the internet doesn't matter (WiFi or ethernet). As long as your computer is connected to the internet…you are fine.:)

As I mentioned. Your hard drive already has a Recovery Partition on it…which is NOT erased if the HD is reformatted. So a fresh copy of the OS can be installed via the Recovery Partition ALREADY on the hard drive.:)

I also only mentioned (as an FYI or courtesy)…that even if you had installed a brand new hard drive into your computer…you still don't need a bootable USB drive…since the OS can be installed on a brand new HD via Internet Recovery.

Again. I am not trying to discourage you from creating a bootable USB drive. I'm only sharing this info if you would rather not do it.

If you do still want to do it…there are lots & lots of step by step procedures on the internet.:) Much easier for you to search for one of these procedures than for me or someone else to type things out step by step here in this thread.:)
