I was trying to set up a third user for me to use instead of using the Admin user as my everyday login. I set up Admin, Julie (new) and guest. I set Julie and guest to not have Admin access but instead of restarting my computer, just went to the new "Julie" user. Finding that none of my files were accessible, I tried to correct my error by making "Julie" have Admin accessibility and removed the accessibility from "Admin", expecting to just change the names on the accounts. I restarted my computer and now find I have no Admin accessibility and can not make any changes that require an Admin username and password. Is there a way to reverse this and do a system restore? Or is there a better way to accomplish this. I am using a MacBook Pro with OS X Yosemite.

Do you have any kind of backup? If no backup, it is possible to create an admin account using single user mode. Look over these instructions and see if you can follow them. If you don't feel comfortable doing it this way, then it might be best to make an appointment with your local Apple store and have them assist you.

Do you not have any Admin user account you can use to login?? There has to be at least one admin user.

Don't believe members can delete posts unless there has been a recent change. Took care of the extras for you . . . no charge. ;)

Do I dare mention that I haven't seen anything more from the OP. But maybe they got things fixed.

I have tried to get past step 1 but CMD+S is not getting me in. I am not saavy enough to try the alternate method you suggest. I contacted Apple Support and after about 45 minutes of help, the tech decided I needed to visit the Apple Store as he was unable to get me to where I could get Admin rights.

Unfortunately, I have not used the Time Machine to make a backup. Will definitely do that once I get my mac back to where it needs to be.

OK Julie, we understand. Glad you took my advice about going to Apple. Let us know how it turns out.
