Im trying to help my daughter with her MacBook Pro. After upgrading her operating system (at the reboot) the computer will not restart. I've held down start button for 10 seconds, released and pushed again. Nothing happens/no sound. It is fully charged. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Assuming it is running one of the last four operating systems, boot and hold down Command + R to enter Recovery Mode. If it boots in utilities run Repair Disk. On a Mac you do not upgrade on reboot. You go to the App Store with your Apple ID and download the required operating system.

My mistake on lingo. I did go to App store and downloaded new system. She was behind on her upgrades.... After I downloaded new system & new iTunes upgrade computer prompted me to restart. I did that and all went black.... Not sure what "Recovery + R" is. She has just moved home from college and does not know where her disk is....

To go into recovery boot and immediately hold down Command and the R key sorry. What OS did you download, then go into Applications and run the Installer?

No it did not prompt you to restart, it stated that the computer needs to restart to complete installation of some software. That means it should do it itself. The fact that it didn't restart indicates that the update or upgrade did not download successfully.
This happened to me 4 times the last time I updated from 10.10.4 to 10.10.5. On each occasion it showed I had already downloaded the combined update in my "Previously Downloaded" page but it was not until it successfully downloaded that it restarted itself. I had the same problem with the iTunes 12.2.2 (see below) and they are only the failed downloads, not the final ones.
My wife on the other hand accidentally closed the lid during the update process and ended up much the same as yourself. I had to restore her computer completely from backup and download the update again.
