I have a 27" MAC OS X that I would like to clean sweep and return to factory settings. However, I don't have the OS X Install disk anymore. Can I still clean sweep it?

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Well it depends on the model and operating systems. If it is running OSX.6 or earlier, you need the system install DVD. You can purchase the OS X.6 DVD from Apple Online for $20 including postage. If OS X.7 or later you can use Recovery Mode to download the operating system via the internet.

Thank you. What I have is OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. Can I use the Recovery Mode from the internet then. So, how do I clean sweep it back to factory settings then. Sorry for my ignorance. Thank you for your help.

You still haven't told us the year and model iMac 27" machine that you have. As Harry pointed out if it's an older model, then you'll need the original install recovery DVD. Newer model iMacs (Late 2011 onward) did not include installation media.
