As my BT broadband is really slow, I'm using wireless, I wondered if i might get a slight increase if i go to hard wired, but not sure how to do it, any ideas please and thank you in advance.

It's really complicated...
Plug in an Ethernet cable, turn off your Wifi.
That's it.
Just don't try to walk off anywhere. :p

If your overall broadband connection is really slow, switching from WiFi to wired wouldn't necessarily fix that. Unless you have a TON of interference around you, your WiFi is almost always faster locally than your connection to the Internet..

Tell us about your computer and operating system and also how old is the router? These things all have a lot to do with speed. For instance an older 802.11g router will always be slow. Note the further you are from your BT exchange, the slower things will go, and old copper wires if an older phone connection also detract.

And what do you call slow actually? Use Speedtest or similar and advise the actual speed.
