What famous error? That doesn't give us much to work with.

If you are getting an error message saying that the code has been redeemed the file is downloading. If you scrool down to the Launchpad icon in the Dock you get an icon there showing that the download is progressing.

As far as being Famous, I have seen 100's having the same issue.

My code redeemed with no issues. Download took 3 attempts though. Finally got it to go through this morning, and then made a USB installer.

Wondering if the peripherals and FCPX will work with Yosemite if I DL the Beta? Anyone know?

The answer to this in relation to a beta is always "while it might, don't count on it and don't be surprised if it doesn't."

Can tell you straight out that FCP X isn't at the moment, but they will put out a update just before they release Yosemite into the wild.

As to the download problem, its been well documented that there has been problems, people getting to within 20% to go and it fails. The Editor of TidBITS took 42 times before he got a good download. Wait a few days until the servers ease off a bit.

42 attempts? Wow, that's a lot. I saw something similar with one of the DP updates but noticed that I had 40MB of space left (it would have been nice if I was warned that no space was free on my test partition).

I guess I got lucky, I downloaded it and have been running it since (later in) day one. I haven't had time to put it through its full paces but a few initial impressions:

*As expected, most browser extensions (1Password, Locko, etc) don't work in the new Safari.
*I'm not impressed thus far with the Java 8 I had to install for compatibility reasons. Lots of false warnings.
*Sheepshaver works! Kinda funny having OS 9 on my Yosemite beta ...
*Liking the "new" iTunes.
*Other than the window dressing, really not that much has changed (bearing in mind I can't test out anything like HandOff or Continuity as I'm not in the iOS 8 beta program). Dark Mode is cool but (again as one would expect) a lot of menubar icon work will need to be done by third-party devs before that's really a good option.

Bottom line: things are mostly like they were in Mavericks, just now with translucency (good) and cleaner fonts (better). I've seen a few graphic glitches, but the machine I'm testing on has a really old graphics chipset so that is not really surprising. When I get more time to test things I'll let you guys know, but basically I'm surprised when something doesn't work rather than being surprised it does work. One cool thing is seeing how much most third-party programs are dependent on Apple APIs (which you can spot because some elements of their programs have changed to accommodate the new font et al).

Works all fine and dandy here.

Same here. It took a little while to try and work out whats what, but at the end of the day, iTunes is once again, beautiful.

Sorry have to disagree here. Its the same old OS, but the look is so different. But no we have handoff (and that works amazingly well) and other little things that I can't be bothered writing about at the moment, but Yosemite is a sep up from Mavericks, especially when it comes to sharing, with Social media, OR to iDevice, its quick and simple to do.

The one thing I'm surprised at is the amount of 3rd party Apps that are running on Yosemite, but upset that Creative Cloud hangs and doesn't want to play games :(

:(

I agree with Tattooed on this also. It's not just Mavericks with a Flat Look. It feels and runs differently here also. MUCH more snappy even on my 2007 iMac! Am very impressed. New Safari works way better than it's worked in a long time especially with memory usage and releasing RAM after heavy flash usage.

I had issues downloading it...then I opened up my App Store and it was there waiting for me to download it. I put it on my Air. I like it so far.

My initial impressions are pretty much the same as yours but you mentioned "Dark Mode" where exactly is that? I always miss the obvious things.:)
