Ever since I upgraded to 10.9.3 Mavericks, I have no longer had the option of using my own photos in the screen saver. Any thoughts?

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Works just great for me System Peferences > Desktop & ScreenSaver > Screensaver > Source > Photo Library and click on the one you want.

Another option is to use iPhoto, select the photo, then under the Share menu, choose desktop.

@OP Check the settings as Harryb suggested. They may have gotten changed inadvertently. Also, exactly what happens when you try to use a photo? Knowing that may help us figure out the problem.

I have a similar problem:
It's not that I can't use the photos, it's that my photos are of varied and unconventional shapes. And due to this there's a lot of heads and feet missing, all the extremities cut off to a more conventional shape. This didn't happen when I used the Lion screensavers. Do I have to only use a very conventional set photo shape now? It's extremely annoying.

Then use "Preview" to resize your photos so they fit without loss of quality.

Ah. Then that would be a "No you can't use an unconventional photo shape". Great.

It is going to take me many hours in Gimp reshaping every image every time I want to add it to the screensaver folder. How annoying.

I really miss my Lion screensaver. It just... WORKED. No messing around.

As far as I can tell, there is zero difference in the screensaver module for at least the last five OS releases. So I'm suspecting the problem is local to you. More detail and some screen shots would be helpful.
