This is really an open rant to Apple, sorry.
Yes, I have music files on my computer and iPod that are not copyrighted. I'm a musician. I receive and send files of songs in the making with other musicians. This used to be why so many people in the music business used Apple products. The best software and hardware to record and edit music were largely Mac oriented. Now its an Apple crime to back up your old iPod files. This sucks! Are you really THAT greedy?
Can I buy a pass so I can resume my career without hardship? Does anyone else think this is crazy? Is Mavericks going to mount my new iPhone?

If you want a better chance that someone from Apple will actually read this…probably better to post on the Apple forums.:) Mac-Forums is not associated with Apple.

And, who said you can't backup your iPod music files? Any music that's royalty free and or non copyright can be backed up. I do it all the time with recordings that we make for hand out. They're royalty free and we do not claim copyright. As a matter of fact, we buy iPod Shuffles by the hand full to store the recordings on and hand out that way. Everything we do is backed up.

Are you doing this with Mavericks?

Yes, and the latest version of iTunes. However, we've been doing it for years, all the way back to Snow Leopard.

And just wait until Yosemite comes out with iOS 8. Bring on Family Sharing, and being able to spread your music with the Kids. See them run for the hills hahaha

I had been doing the same to two iPods until I lost a hard drive. When I replaced it, my back-up desk-top hard drive also failed so I had to retrieve photos and music from the iPods and with Mavericks it now ejects the iPods. Any ideas?
