Mac OS X 10.6.8 is not opening downloaded excel documents, When i try to open the document it either exclaims it just recently opened this "application' and ask me if i'd like to open it again. After and sometimes before it will jump straight into opening the fontbook. I can't get the fontbook to stop reappearing everytime i click on a download

Do you have Excel on your computer? What version?

It sounds to me as if ".xls" files have been associated with Fontbook rather than Excel. You could try this:

1. Select (one click) an Excel document.
2. Press command-i (get info)
3. See what application is associated with the file.
4. If not Excel, change it to Excel.
5. Press the "change all" button and confirm.
