My iPhone 5 will not restore from backup

I updated to the latest version of of iOS 7.0.6 (11B65)
iPhone 5

I could not recover any memory. I deleted massive files, but MSGs kept telling me there wasn't enough memory to do various things.
It would not install the newest software version, so to get it to work, I did a full restore, backed up first to my iMac with 10.9.2 OX
iTunes 11.1.5
After the restore, I tried to receiver using backup, but all backups say they are corrupt etc.

MSG:
iTunes could not restore the iPhone because the backup was corrupt of not compatible with the iPhone that is being restored.

I have tried multiple cables

When was this backup made and what version of iOS was it made on? What error do you get when you try to restore? Without some basic information, you're not going to get very helpful responses..
