I recently bought a new MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.1 and need to migrate everything from my old MacBook Pro running OS X 10.7.5 via a Time Capsule-based network (I don't use Time Machine on this TC). My problem is that although both Macs are on the same network, Migration Assistant can't see the other Mac from either Mac, so the migration stalls at the 'Looking for other sources...' stage.
Do I need to upgrade the old Mac to 10.9.1, or is there other way to do this? The new MacBook Pro is a 13" retina display, so no ethernet connection for direct transfer.
I do have an external hard disk with a Carbon Copy Cloner backup on it. Can I just connect this to the new machine and use the current (today) backup for the migration?
