Missed files

Hi I was wondering if there's an utility to recover files in OS-X because I've lost a pair of files but they didn't go to the trash and nobody erased them. When I had system 9 I had Norton utilities but it doesn't works with OS-X.So if you have any info to solve my problem let me know.

Have you tried searching in the finder? I know it's kind of obvious but... give that a try. If you haven't deleted them then you should be able to find them if they're merely misplaced.
