If something is encrypted, especially by you, you should have the necessary keys/password/information to decrypt the information.

Please tell us more about what you are attempting..

I encrypted a USB long time ago (and I still know the password!) the USB has no files now and I want to decrypt it completely but I don't know how! I searched and it only shows how to decrypt it using Windows by selecting system...etc. I can't see a "decrypt completely" option on my computer!

Thanks in advance

Is this one of those USB drives that when plugged into a computer runs some sort of a program? The Sandisk Cruzer V3's come to mind with their software that only works on Windows and makes the USB drive useless for any other OS..

Or did you use an external program to encrypt a generic USB flash drive?

Never used Truecrypt, so not familiar with it's actual workings - since you have no files on it, does Truecrypt also prevent repartitioning and formatting the disk?

Check this link - not sure that will bring up the section I'm looking at or not.
edit: - no it doesn't

And of course the help files are all for Windows.

But, have you tried unmounting the encrypted volume, which is required in Windows for a data volume, and then attempted to partition (not format) the entire disk with Disk Utility?

Possibly try booting from the ML restore partition and use Disk Utility there.

Thanks to all of you.
