I just updated to mountain lion OS and can't seem to figure out how to sync my iPhone and iMac together when using iMessage. When I message from my phone, shouldn't it appear on my iMac notifications as well? My wife told me that her phone and Macbook Pro's iMessage is in sync but mine isn't. Any idea?

Thanks in advance.

iMessage not syncing with iMac

Sorry - not the answer you were hoping for, but I am having the same problem. I got the impression that this would happen as a result of iCloud, but if I start a conversation on my iMac and then leave the house for example and the person replies, the reply is only showing up on my iMac not on my phone. I am guessing it has to be some sort of setting. I did find the attached while searching around. Not sure if it will be any help as I have not actually followed up on it myself as yet.

I am having the same problem which is annoying because that was one of the things along with facebook integration that is not there yet either. Any luck?

In summary of the post by Kathmat (above):
If an iMessage has been sent using the email address rather than the phone number it'll be in sync. There's now workaround for this until iOS6 is released. With iOS6 you will be able to add your phone number and email address to your AppleID and everything will be linked and sync as expected.

Facebook integration hasn't been given a fixed date but I'd expect to see it around the same time as iOS6 is released

We tried that (sending to the email address) yesterday evening between my iMac, the iPad and our two phones (my daughter and I) and were still having problems. However... the Olympics were calling so will experiment with it again today and see what happens.

You do need to be sure you have the same email added in the iMessage settings. Then turn iMessage off on the i devices and back on again.

Thank you mrplow
Good to go! We just ran another test and it worked.
Messaged my daughter from the computer to her iPhone using her phone number > she messaged back but using my aol address not my phone and the message came into both. Much better!
PS: Saw the UK bit - Go Team GB! (Of which I am a loyal member.)

Yea it is atm. They have lock us out of some things, and im not sure passbook will be up to standard here in Aust, but i love the new look and FB integration does work as well as you would expect from Apple.
From what i have read about ML, it will be one sweet setup to have

PS lovin the avatar mrplow. Still you Poms have it on us in the medal count, for now. Feel sorry for Pendleton :(
