This webpage shows that there is an "Higher Performance" radio button. But I don't see it on my Mac OS 10.6.8. Does anybody know why? Is it because 9400M doesn't support such an option?

Your machine does not support that function as you only have one graphics controller. Only those machines with dual graphic chipsets support the higher performance setting.

I would add that the article that was linked is somewhat misleading (and maybe even outright wrong)...because of the following quote from the article:

"Most MacBooks and MacBook Pros (15-inch and 17-inch) include two graphics options within the System Preferences' Energy Saver."

- Firstly: Because there has NEVER been a MacBook with dual video processors.
- Second: Because dual video processors didn't show up in the MacBook Pro lineup until 2009...which means that all MacBook Pros from 2006, 2007, and 2008 DO NOT have dual video processors.

So MacBook Pro models from 2006, 2007, and 2008 do not have dual video processors...MacBook Pro models from 2009, 2010, and 2011 do have dual video processors. So at best...the author of the article should have said 50% of the MacBook Pro models have dual video processors...or...have said that models since 2009 have dual video processors.
